Areas of Practice
Travieso has actively represented clients in the telecommunications sector since the privatization of CANTV in 1991 which led to an important opening of this sector in Venezuela. From then on we advised several important companies and operators of telecom services (private telecom networks, switched data networks, value added services, television by subscription, etc.) as well as telecom equipment providers.
Our attorneys participated in the drafting of the 2000 Venezuelan Telecommunications Law and have been greatly involved in the review of new legislation deriving therefrom. As a result, we are prepared to advise our clients on all aspects of regulatory, commercial and operative issues related with telecommunications such as preparation of applications for administrative authorizations/concessions/administrative permits (licenses); negotiation and drafting of interconnection agreements; analysis of new laws and regulations and their implication on established/new operators; drafting of service agreements, satellite capacity, etc.
We have organized and participated in international seminars regarding the Venezuelan Telecommunications opening with the participation of CONATEL (Venezuelan telecom regulatory entity).
